About Us
Catvision was founded in 1985 by professionals which included graduates from the IIT & IIM. Soon, Catvision started installing cable TV systems in hotels and company townships – the first cable TV networks in India. The same year, it became the first company to downlink and distribute foreign TV channels over these networks. These developments eventually led to the rapid spread of cable TV and satellite TV in India.
Today, the company has its head office and factory in Noida and employs 60+ personnel, many with technical backgrounds.
The key strength of Catvision has been its focus on its core competency – Integration and distribution of video and data.

1985
Catvision is founded
1986
Catvision downlinks and distributes foreign TV programs for the first time in India
1990
Catvision becomes exclusive agent for CNN International for 5 years. Starts the manufacture of cable TV.
1995
Catvision goes public, its stock is listed at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
2010
Catvision is awarded the contract for installing TV distribution networks in 23 countries.
2013
Unitron Group of Belgium for design and development of digital encoders and decoders for cable TV networks.
2018
Catvision is awarded the top 100 MSME award by the Government of India.
The Catvision Leadership
Athar Abbas
Managing Director
Mr Abbas, MD, is a B.Tech graduate from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from IIM, Calcutta. After graduation, he worked briefly with the HCL group, where he rose to senior positions in sales and marketing. Mr. Abbas co-promoted Catvision in 1985.
Sudhir Damodaran
Director
Mr Damodaran, Director, is a Science graduate from Bangalore University. After graduation, he worked with the HCL and Shriram groups, where he rose to senior positions in sales & marketing. Mr. Damodaran co-promoted Catvision in 1985.
Rajesh Kher
Chief Technical Officer
Mr Kher, CTO, is a B.Tech. Graduated from IIT Kanpur. He worked in research positions in TIFR and DRDO before joining Catvision in 1999.
